Standing on the right side of the piano is Nina Brown. The third girl to the right of the piano is Sarah Collinge. The first girl standing to the left of the piano is Carol Adams
Tiny photo on back wall is Frank Mayo, ROTC leader, at Balboa High School.
Left side of photo, my arm shows, next to second girl, beautiful Arlene McKeown seated.
Sorry that’s all I recognize. Joanne Steiner, BHS ’51.
This is an easy one. Standing L to R: Margie Zent, Judy Brinkley, Carroll Adams, Nina Brown, Margaret (Dee Dee) Tewinkel, Sara Collinge (all BHS 55), & Carol Newhard (CHS 54). At the piano, Judy Lindsay (BHS 55) & Mary Rose (BHS 54) assisting. Seated at left (profiles): Ann (Andy) Mulligan (BHS 54) & Marcy Rudge (BHS 55….. 54?).
Wonderful Easter Week spent at a barracks at Fort Gulick on the Atlantic Side. We elected Jane Jennison (BHS 55) as Governor & Diane Scheidegg (CHS 55) as Lt Governor. Among her cabinet appointments, Jane named Georgia McGinn as Attorney General. Georgia became an attorney as an adult.
About 30 years later as I was leaving the Balboa Elks Club after lunch, I paused at a table with two women. I told the elderly lady that I knew she didn’t remember me but I wanted her to know how much I appreciated all she did for the Girls State program via the American Legion Auxiliary. She beamed & promptly asked me: “What year?”. When I said “1954”, she paused only a nanosecond before firmly stating: “Jane Jennison!”. What a memory!
typo — Carol Newhard is CHS 55, not 54.
& Marcy Rudge is CHS, not BHS
That is not Frank Mayo’s photo on the back wall. It is some commissioned officer and since this gathering is at Fort Gulick.. Frank graduated in 51…………Nina -sure does not ,look any Zent to me
John — I guarantee to you that’s Margie — Nina
Sure you are right. Thinking of Martha… Margie was much younger and not even sure I ever met her.
