Blog Posts are Transitioning to a Mon/Wed/Fri Schedule on May 4

As we begin to prepare for the end of our IMLS Grant project on September 30, 2015, we will be adjusting the posting schedule of new blog entries.

Beginning on Monday, May 4, new blog entries will be posted 3 days per week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Throughout the summer, new objects can still be found every Monday, Wednesday and Friday and we encourage you to continue reading and posting your fantastic comments!

Our volunteers have been updating many object records to include your comments and knowledge of the Panama Canal Zone and they will continue to do this through the end of September.

Thank you all so much for your continued contributions to the PCMC Blog!

As a child, with my parents, during WW11, 1941-1946I lived on “B” street in Curundu,Panama. My father worked for the U.S. Army as a civilian paymaster and paid the troops as they passed through the canal. My brother Thomas was born in Gorgus hospital in 1946. I was hoping to find some pictures of where I lived and the house I lived in. Can you tell me where the repository for pictures or written material for that period. I am 76 years old and am trying to put something together for my family before I pass. If you are the wrong person to help, perhaps you could send my request on to someone who could help me. I willing to pay for any reasonable fees or charges. Respectfully, Bruce Garwood.
Father was John Lester Garwood 1894-1964

  2. Hello Bruce,
You may visit the Panama and The Canal Digital Collection (http://ufdc.ufl.edu/pcm) to search collections items that have been digitized.

If you are looking for something specific, please use the contact form (https://ufpcmcollection.wordpress.com/contact/) to contact us directly with your request, and we can try a search among the items that have not been digitized.
